El declive del Imperio Gal\u00e1ctico hizo que los humanos abandonaran el espacio para crear una sociedad perfecta que ha permanecido inmutable durante millones de a\u00f1os. Los ciudadanos de Diaspar nacen adultos, viven durante siglos y sus conciencias retornan a los bancos de memoria para resucitar muchos a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p>En medio de este mecanismo que funciona con una precisi\u00f3n asombrosa, cada mucho tiempo surge un \u00danico, un ciudadano que escapa al ciclo de resurrecciones y nace sin que est\u00e9 registrado en la memoria del gran ordenador central.<\/p>\n<p>El protagonista, Alvin, es uno de estos \u00danicos y no tiene vidas anteriores a las que agarrarse para comprender la perfecci\u00f3n de Diaspar.
